Import and Export Customs Clearance

We manage the entire clearance process before customs authorities:

  • Preparation and validation of import/export customs declaration
  • Prior document review: commercial invoice, packing list, BL or air waybill, certificates of origin
  • Submission to automated selection mechanism (customs traffic light)
  • Attendance of customs inspections and prior reviews
  • Follow-up until cargo release

We operate at: Mexico City (AICM) · AIFA · Monterrey · Querétaro (AIQ) · Nuevo Laredo · Manzanillo · Veracruz · Altamira · Lázaro Cárdenas · Ciudad Hidalgo, Chiapas · Colombia, Nuevo León.

Tariff Classification

The incorrect tariff fraction is the most common cause of detentions, fines, and SAT audits. Our specialists perform rigorous classification based on the General Foreign Trade Rules and the LIGIE Tariff.

  • Correct tariff classification of goods
  • Identification of applicable tariff benefits (USMCA, EU-MX FTA, and other FTAs)
  • Non-tariff regulation advisory: prior permits, quotas, applicable NOMs
  • Retroactive reviews for companies with frequent import history

Government Agency Procedure Management

Regulatory compliance in Mexico involves multiple agencies. We manage the necessary procedures so your goods circulate legally within the country:

  • SAT: Declarations, customs declaration amendments, VAT refunds and offsets
  • COFEPRIS: Operating notices, sanitary registrations, and import permits
  • Ministry of Economy: Importer Registry, Sectorial Registry, import quotas
  • SEMARNAT: Permits for environmentally regulated products
  • NOM compliance: verification, labeling, and documentation for the Mexican market

Legal, Tax and Customs Advisory

Foreign trade in Mexico is regulated by a complex and constantly evolving legal framework. We offer specialized advisory so your import decisions are always correct from a legal and tax perspective:

  • Advisory on special customs regimes: definitive import, temporary, fiscal deposit, strategic fiscal precinct
  • Advisory on USMCA, EU-MX FTA, and other free trade agreement benefits
  • Technical opinion for SAT audits and reviews related to foreign trade
  • Continuous regulatory updates: tariff changes, new NOMs, General Rules modifications

Importer Registry Registration

To import legally in Mexico, it is necessary to be registered in the General Importer Registry and/or the General Importer Registry for Specific Sectors before the SAT. We manage the registration, update, and reactivation of the registry for your company:

  • Review of requirements and necessary documentation
  • Registration in the General Registry and, when applicable, in the Sectorial Registry
  • Follow-up until registry activation before SAT
  • Advisory for companies that do not yet have an active registry
